Costume Con

Somebody Stop Me!

So I’ve found out (thanks to Trystan) that I don’t have to put my 18th century corset on my dress form at the Costume Con exhibit, which means I can wear 18th century – yay! Of course, I’m suddenly fantasizing about quickly finishing my jacket just so I have something new to wear – and am contemplating maybe pushing it back to a 1740s-50s jacket, with a laced-over-stomacher and cuffs. Wouldn’t that be cute? And I finally found an inspirational image for my new Venetian dress, which under no account can I start until after Costume Con, but I am busy fantasizing about it nonetheless! Okay. Deep breaths. IF I get the masquerade and exhibit dresses done, I can finish the jacket and fulfill my need to wear something new. I shall NOT think Venetian! No way!

I think you should just wear the jacket half-finished & go around flipping ppl off.

I love that the woman in the inspiration portrait is accessorized with a small fluffy dog.

    Trystan: ha!

Frannie: I thought the same thing – anyone have a small, white fluffy dog I can borrow?

Hmm… The jacket is really gorgeous and I think you would feel guilty if you finished really quickly and end up redoing it later. As for the Venetian dress, gotta love that picture XP.. Wooww I love the dress but cant say much for the subject O.o The dog is adorable though!

Good luck keeping yourself from starting a new project, I know how hard that can be especially if you are having a hard time with the one you are working on now.

    Kendra,
We WISH we had a small white fluffy dog. We miss Barney very much, and next year we hope to be able to oblige with a loaner.

First on the subject of the Venetian. I can’t wait to see this one come to life. Are you planning to do something similar to the partlet in this one? I think the stars were a neat detail. Beautiful dress and a cute little doggie too.

Next, I must say I’m thrilled that you’re contemplating finishing the jacket. I’m working on a similar project myself and would love to see what you do. I’m new to 18th century and having guide pictures of fitting a jacket would be lovely. Best of luck with it.

Can you dress Albert up as a white dog? He’s fluffy!

My parents have a small white dog, I could enquire as to his availability. :)
