1780s handsewn stays – lined and done!

Now that the Costume College rush is over, and the “I’m never going to sew again!” burnout has passed, we enter the noodley sewing stage! I’ve started two random things, but realized what I really needed to do was repair the torn eyelets on my 1780s stays… which I did while having a costume movie marathon.

While I was at it, I finally got around to lining these, so I can call them 100% done. I picked up this brown indienne print at Stonemountain a few years ago, and something about it just screamed “stays lining” to me.

  1. Those are lovely. I am just about to bind my first pair of stays. I hope it goes as well as yours did!
