Cross-posted from everywhere, but too fabulous not to do so: the Royal Ontario Museum will be exhibiting (only through 10/26!) a dress believed to have been made by Rose Bertin for Marie Antoinette. WOW! They’ve posted a video podcast about the dress which is fascinating, and doc_holliday posted photos of it here on Livejournal. I wish I could get to Toronto, stat!

Holy cats! That skirt is magnificent!
The skirt is wonderful! The hand embroidery is magnificent! Before I read the notes at the bottom, I was thinking “Wow, the skirt is beautiful, but the bodice is so plain. I wonder why?” And then I saw the answer :).
I was so surprised to see a surviving dress from Marie Antoinette. The embroidery is stunning. Especially if it was made by Rose Bertin. It would be spectacular to see in real life.
I 2nd the notion on wishing to get to Toronto.
