The Embroider’s Story blog details the recreation of a 17th century jacket at Plimoth Plantation, and it also includes other fascinating posts on related topics like dyeing, weaving, and other related techniques etc. Fascinating!

Oh wow, how funny! When I had just graduated (in 2005) one of the jobs I applied for was in the costume shop at Plimoth. Thankfully I got something else, otherwise I’d be living on a shoestring in Boston right now… But it was really tempting, and they were disappointed when they called me to interview and heard I’d gone elsewhere.
How cool would that have been? I mean, not the shoestring budget. When I went to Plimoth Plantation I nearly DIED!
That would be, nearly died from the fabulousness of it all. In a tweedy, hopefully-we-won’t-die-from-rot-in-the-grain early colonial sort of way.
I can’t find it online, but PBS’s Needle Arts Studio did a peice on the jacket they are making.
