Bonham’s auction house recently held a sale entitled, “The Fashion Wardrobe 1700-1960.” You can see pictures of the costumes in a number of places – Monsters & Critics has a photo series (not sure I’m loving the prairie bonnet with the 1820s sheer dress), and Bonhams has both highlights from the preview and the online catalog. I think my favorite is this bustle gown.

Eww @ the prairie bonnet thing (although the dress, off the model, is very pretty). Pretty cool catalogue, after all the lace items- haven’t finished looking through it, but quite eye catching. 🙂
Wow. That 1820s dress would be incredible with all the proper undergarments. But I have to say what the hell is she wearing under it? It looks like a radish red jackie kennedy dress!
*drools* that bustle gown is beautiful. I would love to sew something like that but it exceeds both my skill and patients..
