Oscar nominations! Best costume design: “Chicago,” “Frida,” “Gangs of New York,” “The Hours,” “The Pianist.”

I still have yet to see Chicago, Frida, or The Pianist, but I have only one thing to say: FAR FROM HEAVEN! Sandy Powell was robbed (yes, she was nominated for Gangs of NY, but hardly her best work in my humble opinion)! Check out the official site to see what I’m talking about.

I am, however, excited that the following actresses were nominated, because I can’t wait to see what they wear! I’m most excited about Julianne Moore (I know she’ll lose to Nicole Kidman — who used to be really exciting, but has gotten less so lately — but at least Julianne will look good). Also in the “usually well attired” category are: Nicole Kidman, Salma Hayek, Renee Zellweger, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Too bad Helena Bonham Carter and Kate Winslet aren’t up for anything this year!
