fidm costume exhibit
Went today to see the Art of Motion Picture Costume Design Exhibition at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in LA. We got to see fabulous costumes from Far From Heaven (my favorite), Frida, Two Towers, and The Hours — and some less exciting films, such as The Scorpion King. My favorite items on display: Nicole Kidman’s dresses and shoes from The Hours, the red party dress worn by Julianne Moore in Far From Heaven (which had external waist darts all around the skirt top), the beadwork on the Chicago costumes, and Geena Davis’ yellow coat with red accessories (purse, shoes, etc.) from Stuart Little 2 (VERY 50s). |

Fund my shoe addiction! (Hey, at least I’m not one of those people with a “Make a PayPal donation to me because I’m cute!” link).
I’ve spent the last two nights working on the hem. This has been my first attempt to incorporate some tailoring techniques into my sewing… read more about my 1955 suit project
