I’m in love!

Oh BBC, how do I love thee? So much so that my toes are just twinkling as I watch Berkeley Square! I’ve been eyeing this DVD for a year or two now, but because it wasn’t available through NetFlix I’d just wondered if it was any good. In a random consumerist moment I just decided to buy it, and I’m so glad I did!

In addition to being a darn good story, the costumes are just FABULOUS. It’s a story of three nannies working in Edwardian London, and the series shows both the servants (in fabulous tailored jackets, shirtwaists, and skirts) and the people they work for (in fabulous gowns — okay, yes, there are boys too. Boys = zzzzz).

In other news, Dickens Fair starts this weekend — I’ve finished all of my odds and ends for my costume, including making an indoor cap that looks a bit like a tea cozy. I will post photos after next weekend.

Also, my hand is mysteriously better, so I will get cracking on finishing my robe a la francaise and my 1830s dress!

COMMENTARY

A wee update

My sewing is on hold around here as I deal with some hand injuries (a soon to be fixed ergonomic issue at work has created pain in my right hand/arm/shoulder), and as I have foolishly decided to work (part-time) at Dickens Fair. I’ve been putting the finishing touches on my 1850s day outfit and attending a large amount of rehearsals. I’ll be at Fezziwig’s on Saturdays — stop by for a dance!

I’ll get back on trimming my robe a la francaise and finishing my 1830s day dress once my hand injuries are resolved.
