gbacg gibson girls event

The Gibson Girls event last Sunday was just fabulous. We had a tour of historic Shinn House in Fremont, and were allowed to sit on the furniture and take tons of pictures. Afterwards, we had a picnic on the lawn, some played croquet, everyone chatted and mingled and wandered through the beautiful gardens. Everyone looked beautiful, and it was one of those perfect early summer days.

My photos from the event are here — as always, if you see a picture of yourself that you’d like removed (or if you’d like me to email you a larger copy), let me know!

COMMENTARY

costume college

Yay! My Costume College registration packet has arrived! They’ve got some great programming planned, although of course the class I REALLY want to take (making a bustle-period buckram hat) overlaps with the class I’m teaching.

I’m trying to figure out what to take for my limited attendance classes (you get to pick four; everyone gets something like two of those choices guaranteed and more if there’s room). Right now I’m thinking:

Friday: Regency corset (?)

Saturday: 18th c. hat trimming OR 18th c. quilting techniques OR makeup styles 1920s-40s

Sunday: 18th c. gown trimmings
