But hey, why not! The FIDM online shop is selling advance copies of the Dressing a Galaxy: The Costumes of Star Wars book. It will only be available via FIDM from 9/12-24 (after which you can buy it elsewhere). I personally will be ordering the normal edition, but if you’ve got some money to burn and you want a “Wookiee belt-buckle cast replica” and “Fabric swatches cut from the same bolts as the actual costume material that was used for Darth Vader’s cape” then you should think about ponying up $295 for the limited edition. More info on the exhibition (opens 9/12) will be coming soon on the exhibition website.
Costume College Meetup
Will you be attending Costume College this year? Are you a GBACG member, friend, or Northern California costumer? Or do you just want to hang out with some cool people? If so, please join us!
GBACG COSTUME COLLEGE MEETUP
FRIDAY, JULY 29
9:00pm
AIRTEL PLAZA HOTEL BAR (Clipper Club Lounge)
Any Northern California costumers (or anyone interested in hanging out with us!) are invited to join us for a chance to mingle! After you’ve had a browse in the marketplace (which opens Fri. night after Orientation), come by the Clipper Club Lounge (on the first floor of the hotel) for a cocktail or soda (you buy).
No costumes necessary, although if you do dress up, we’ll be sure to point and say, “ooooo, PRETTY!”
GBACG members: don’t forget to wear your guild pins throughout the College weekend, so we can all recognize each other!
Real Women’s Clothing Update
There are a bunch of new listings in the Real Women’s Clothing directory, plus some new views of some old listings. The Boston MFA has redone their site, which meant that while there are a bunch of new listings from them, there were some which I wasn’t sure whether we’d seen before. If I wasn’t sure, I marked it as new just in case. In bad news, the Museum of the City of New York has removed their images of their Charles Worth collection, so those are gone. Grumble grumble.

Random Fun
Some fun, vaguely costume-related blogs I have run across: des chapeaux, anyone? How about a paper doll that often gets smart historic costumey paper doll outfits to wear? And I do hope we have all seen Thread Bared, where you can see all that is wrong in the world of vintage sewing patterns.
