Costume Designers Guild Awards

The Costume Designers Guild has announced their nominees for 2006. Of interest to me are:

Period film:
– Curse of the Golden Flower (Chung Man Yee)
– Dreamgirls (Sharen Davis)
– Illusionist (Ngila Dickson)
– Marie Antoinette (Milena Canonero)
– Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (Penny Rose)

I am OBVIOUSLY rooting for Marie Antoinette here, baby.

Fantasy film:
– Eragon (Kym Barrett)
– Pan’s Labyrinth (Lala Huete)
– The Fountain (Renée April)
– X-Men: The Last Stand (Judianna Makovsky)
– V for Vendetta (Sammy Sheldon)

Sadly, of these I’ve only seen X-Men. Must see The Fountain for sure.

Made for TV movie/miniseries:
– Bleak House (Andrea Galer)
– Elizabeth I (Mike O’Neill)
– High School Musical (Tom McKinley)
– Into the West (Michael T. Boyd)
– Mrs. Harris (Julie Weiss)

I gotta go with Elizabeth I, of course!

Period/fantasy TV series:
– Cold Case (Patia Prouty & Maria Schicker)
– Deadwood (Katherine Jane Bryant)
– Rome (April Ferry)

I’m sorry, Cold Case is period/fantasy how? I haven’t seen any of these (I suck!) but I think I’ll root for Rome nonetheless.

I Exist!

So yeah, that sucked! It’s a VERY long story, but suffice it to say that my husband changed something major on the back end of his professional site (tweedlebop.com), requiring him to change our DNS registration (because the co. we registered with years ago sucked), which made my site not exist. Grump! Unfortunately it’s irreversible, which means here I am at a new domain name (good in the end as I’ve always meant to get my own domain for this site, bad because I can’t put up a redirect from demode.tweedlebop.com). So, the site will now and forever live here at www.demodecouture.com — I promise!

In other news, I’d just started (before all this crisis happened) to reorganize my files behind the scenes here, as they all grew organically and I had huge, unorganized folders that were driving me crazy. Since the site was down, it was a good opportunity to reorganize (and recode – sigh!) many of the pages. This means three important things:

1) Due to the lovely slowness of FTP, it’ll be about another 24 hours before the whole site is here.
2) All of the content that used to be here will still be here, and all the paths to get to that content will be the same.
3) The URLS for MANY of the pages will have changed. So if you’ve got a bookmark or a link to something, please go find the new version of the page and update the URL. A hassle, I know!

FIDM Costume Exhibit

Woot! Just got confirmation that they’ll be showing Marie Antoinette costumes at this year’s FIDM movie costume exhibit (starts in late Jan. – full list not yet released; I’ll link to it when they do). ROAD TRIP!!!!! I am SO there.
