Silk taffeta ribbon?

I really want to post my recap of the Burnley & Trowbridge Brunswick workshop, which was amazing, but WordPress is being fussy and not posting galleries… and what’s the point of a costume post without pictures, I ask you?

So in the meantime, I will whine and ask y’all if you have any suggestions of where I can find silk taffeta ribbon (about 2″ wide-ish)?  I’ve been googling, and all over ebay and etsy, and all I’ve found has been the wrong color (I need ivory), or not silk, or not taffeta, or questionable whether it’s real heavyweight taffeta or just china-silk-esque, or something crazy like $50/yd.  I suppose I could get some yardage and do a teeny tiny hem, but… I just want silk taffeta ribbon!  Any ideas?

Burnley & Trowbridge posted some pictures of the workshop on Facebook, and your Brunswick looks like it’s going to be a blast !!!

I’ve gotten silk ribbon from this ebay seller:

I’ve also seen some for sale at vintage resellers, but it’s usually narrow. All the modern stuff I can find is thin china silk and just unhemmed bias strips, not real ribbon.

JKM ribbon carries 100% silk in wider widths (but you have to buy a 15-yd spool)…
For example, 2.5″ is available in a wide selection of colors in their wired silk ribbon (but it’s easy to pull the wires out).

Thanks guys! I’m going to get a sample of the stuff from silkribbon.com — it looks china-silk-esque to me, so I want to see it in person. Deborah, good suggestion, but I think that’s shantung, which I want to avoid.

I’ll report back on what I find!

The silk ribbon and more is China silk. It’s beautiful stuff–I’ve used loads of it, but it is thin. I used it to close my embroidered jacket though and it works very well. Fluttery though :)

So how was it? Was silk ribbon.com worth it?
