  1. My quilted petti is made from a bedspread. I have no idea what the batting is but probably it’s poly. It’s surprisingly not that hot to wear, because it stands away from your legs a bit.

  2. Both sides have an opening. That’s my favorite 18th c. skirt closure option — and then I use ties that tie in front (ie the back sides tie in front) and back (the front sides tie in back) — that way the skirt is always adjustable.

  3. Oh, so like a regular 18th century petticoat. Sorry – didn’t look at the pictures carefully enough the first time.

    Hmm, (thinking 17th-century now) I need to do some research on what dates correspond to 1- or 2- slit skirt openings. I’m guessing it corresponds to the usage of paniers…

  4. Katherine – oh, good question! I would assume that the closures of the petticoats would mimick however the gown skirt closes? But yeah, it’s so much harder to figure out this stuff for 17th c. Less sources out there.
