New Books to Get Excited About!

Yay! Huge props to Sewingbird on LJ for pointing out that the long-awaited final Janet Arnold book (Patterns of Fashion: Cut and Construction of Linen Shirts, Smocks, Neck and Headwear, Etc., C. 1540-1665) is now available for pre-order on Amazon UK (it’s coming out in November). And Laracorsets on LJ found a book (Corsets: Historic Patterns and Techniques) that sounds very promising; also available for preorder on Amazon UK.

  1. Oooh, goodies – thank you!
I think joysdaughter on LJ is involved with the Janet Arnold book in some way – I know she worked on it at one stage (having trained under both Janet and Jean Hunnisett, something I will NEVER forgive her for!). I came across this on Amazon the other day – wonder if it is any good?

  2. *drools* I wants it! There are sooo many costuming books I am ogling.. Many of them are insanely expensive though. Personally I’m not all that interested in the 16th and 17th centuries but the one on corsets would be nice..
