Oh, and sadly, that green “silk” at Istok is actually a poly/rayon blend (why they call it “silk” I don’t know)! So I’m still on the hunt for fabulous, affordable, green silk damask.
I’m afraid there are lots of sites (and stores too!) which seem to think that “silk” and “linen” are nothing more than descriptions of weave. You have to ascertain the actual fiber content. I find Russian art supply sites suspect anyhow.

About the Jane Austen movie — admittedly I haven’t studied the early half of the century, but what did you think about the costumes at the end of the movie? It was ruined to me because I couldn’t help thinking ‘if Regency had a grandma, this would be it.” I couldn’t even begin to peg the decade!
