Farthingale’s US Location Open!

Did I miss this? Farthingale’s US location (in Los Angeles) has their website up and ready for business. Yay! No more hugely expensive shipping from Canada! Has anyone been to their store location yet?

  1. You mean Linda Sparks didn’t corner you at Costume College with a flyer on its opening? 😉

And I have a friend who took a two-day corset class from JoAnn Peterson at the shop recently. She said it was great for corset stuff, and they had a number of ready to wear corsets and supplies available. I only wish I was closer to LA to take those classes.

  2. Yah. Apparently it was a bit of a struggle at the outset, but all smooth now. It’s in Santa Monica, near the intersect of the 405 and the 10.

  3. Not been to the physical store, but I’ve mail-ordered boning from the LA store twice, & I highly recommended it! Same excellent service as the Canadian shop, but it takes less than a week for packages to arrive from LA to Northern California. Just wish the site had *all* the goodies the other one has. — trystan, who can’t remember her damn blogger acct.

  4. I’ve been there. They have some fabulous display corsets, with fabulous prices (ie, bigger than our bustles) They also have Mela hats for sale. Yay!!
They have everything you’ve ever needed for making corsets. And Liz and Eric are wonderful.

  5. Yes, Liz & Eric Gerds. And they are a crack-up together. Liz put me in a corset and cinched me in to an inch of my life.

  6. Oh dear, the one advantage us Canadians had in the costuming business is gone. *darn* For a while it was nice to know that most of you Yanks had to go what we go through when ordering something from across the border and the horrendous shipping charges.

Oh well. We still have the Stratford Costume Wearhouse, damnit!

  7. I just went to the Store on Sat and it is frankly COOL! I adore the minature steel pieces the crinolins and the paniers used to decorate the lovely french dressing room styled shop. They will be haveing classes of all sorts starting very soon (Jan) and a few sound very worthwhile! LOVE the new 5/8th with steel and the heavier gauge 1/4 steel they now have available as well, its great to be able to see and feel the coutils on hand too!
