COMMENTARY

decisions decisions!

aaaa! I’m on mental costuming overload! I have all these projects that I want to make plus all these projects that I need to make and I’m constantly changing my mind and I think we need to start a support group for indecisive costumers who write in run-on sentences!

So I’m all excited about the GBACG Gibson Girls event (Edwardian in April). I had almost totally decided to make this 1909 afternoon dress until I remembered that I’d always had a lust to make the Rocking Horse Farms 1909 coat suit and became recently enamored of the Past Patterns 1909-10 Tucked Waists. What to do, what to do? The afternoon dress is really pretty and maybe more garden partyish, but I lust for suits plus having a jacket/skirt/blouse would be very practical for long term wardrobe building.

The problem is that in addition to needing to make THAT decision, I’m currently in costume lust (do you suffer from this?) to get started on my robe a l’anglaise for the GBACG Travellers in Tuscany event (which isn’t until June, but I’ve been lusting over it for years!). Plus I’m having strong urges to make a late 1910s (okay, so I’d be cheating) day dress for Gatsby!

PLUS it doesn’t help that work has been so incredibly hectic that I come home exhausted every evening with no energy to sew, PLUS I also need to make some kind of pelerine for my 1830s day dress AND a waistcoat for my husband in the next week and a half! (Important marital note: husband who does not dress up does not dance is actually going to a costume event! It’s my birthday so that could be why [plus there’s no dancing], but he’s going! Wow! The only problem is he’s gotten all anal about what he’s going to wear — we’ve been trying to find him a jacket in a thrift store but nothing is “period” enough for him. I keep teasing him about proper thread counts…)

Do you ever find yourself paralyzed because you have so many things you want to make? What do I do about my Edwardian indecision? Where is the nearest support group for people like me?
